  Bond Information

The Madison community is routinely named one of the “Best Places to Live in Arizona” by Phoenix Magazine, due in part to the high quality of education the district provides. Madison is a destination community with families seeking relocation opportunities just to attend the district schools. This attraction to Madison maintains high property values and a sense of pride for all of Madison’s residents.

Camelview Elementary SchoolThe Madison Elementary School District recognizes, as do Madison property owners, the investment that comes with proper maintenance and energy efficient facilities. For this reason, Madison’s Governing Board has called for this special bond election to conduct necessary repairs and upgrades to all Madison schools.

Some of Madison’s buildings are almost 60 years old, and hundreds of students walk through them each day. Regular maintenance is a must. Additionally, systems such as heating and air conditioning have outlived their useful life and should be replaced with more energy efficient models, saving the district- and taxpayers thousands of dollars in energy costs per year.

State funding for renovation and repair projects has been cut year after year. In 2008, Madison should have received $1.2 million for facilities maintenance, but received less than half that amount after legislative cuts. The District is facing many other funding reductions when they are also struggling with dramatic cost increases in essential services, like utilities.

Bond proceeds will allow the Madison Elementary School District to continue to provide the quality education expected by our community and maintain its reputation as one of the best school districts in the state. This, in turn, will help maintain property values.
